When is the best season to trek to Kanchenjunga base camp?

There are two best seasons in Nepal to trek overall, month-wise September-October-November-December and next fall march-April-may which is seasonal called autumn and spring for the trekking autumn season is best to trek because this season comes right after monsoon so all the sky dust and nearby ground dust are destroyed by several months heavy rainfall so close mountain view, distance view and panoramic view you can easily capture even in your very less megapixel camera. In the mountain weather never can stay able sometimes unfortunately change for one day or two days but autumn season these chances are less than spring.  There are few different ways to go to Kanchenjunga by flight, by private jeep, and by local bus. A most common way is once you arrive Kathmandu and prepare for the trek, then fly to Biratnagar and take a private jeep to Suketar is a comfortable way to begin the trek. If flight schedules do not change for the morning then it is possible to make by a day to Suketar to stay overnight. Flight costs can be a bit expensive so to make a cheaper trip, day or night bus to Birtamod and again take sharing based jeep or bus to Suketar which would be can cost reduction but time will take one or two days extra. In Kanchenjunga, conservation areas buffer zone majority of the population are Limbu,Rai Chettri, and Braman also partly living here but below 2500m. An area dominated by Limbu, in limbus language Limbu, means heroes of the hill Dhaka is a traditional fabric for Limbu who makes a dhaka dress like a hat, blouse, saree, scarf they teach generations to another.

Weather in Kanchenjunga base camp:

Autumn and spring are the best time for trekking to Kanchenjunga base camp. Monsoon ends in Nepal from the end of August, and September to November are autumn here, the spring season is another best time for trekking to Kanchenjunga, in both season the mountain cold winds is not properly descended, and most of the time you will feel sunshine day and warm temperature, less cloudy in the mountain , at night you will sleep in home-stay and normal tea houses along the route, most of the place they make a fire in the dining hall before you go sleep, and in the mountain, the house is made with wood and stone for good enough protect from windy, rainy,  snow, etc, and windows are insulation both side, but we highly suggest please take a warm enough sleeping bag and trekking gears.

Beginning of the trek it will be very hot, no need much cloths, in begging, we start Kanchenjunga trek from lower altitude you won’t feel cold for fewer days of trek start, the day temperature will be 20 to 22 Celsius and night time 15 to 17 Celsius in the lower part of the trek but day by day you will be rising up to the mountain , after four to five days walk you will be left behind hot temperature, and you will feel start a little bit cold and chill winds because of you are reaching very close to big snow mountains, and especially you will feel in morning and evening time, during the day time while you walking through the beautiful landscapes you won’t feel cold even you reach in high place until sun stays around. The temperature would be 13 to 16 during the day and night time 8 to 10 at night in higher places of this trek,  but about the weather, no buddy can predictable so we highly suggest you please prepare well and carry good enough clothes and comfortable trekking boots.

Food:

On this trek, you will have great hospitality and delicious food from local tea house and homestay, don’t aspects like your hometown or western types of food, but still, you can eat basic food like Nepali dal bat, loaves of bread, soups, muddles, potatoes, including a lot of organic foods and drinks. And we suggest you all please eat local organic food and support, your money goes directly to them, the Kanchenjunga region still not like Annapurna or Everest region, don’t aspect like Annapurna or Everest region food, just basic food and accommodation are available.
