Pikey peak trek is a newly open trekking route located in the lower Khumbu region of Nepal. This beautiful trekking destination was opened by the government of Nepal recently. Pikey peak trek begins after a drive from  Kathmandu to Dhap Bazar in 8 to 9 hour by jeep, but if you want to hide a long drive journey then you can also take a short flight to Phaplu about 35 minutes, and drive to Dhap Bazar where your trekking start. If you go by drive then early in the morning, you will drive from Kathmandu via B.P High way to Dhap Bazar. After leaving the Kathmandu valley then mainly the driving road will follow through Sunkoshi river until Ghurmi bazaar. After reaching Ghurmi bazaar, the drive continue up to Okhaldhunga Bazar. The fresh air from thre mountains will make you feel cooler, when you reach Okhaldunga bazaar. Finally, another few hours drive from Okhaldhunga will take you to Dhap via Pattale viewpoint (alt. 3500m), and this viewpoint is the border of two districts like Okhaldunga and Solukhumbu.

From Pattle viewpoint (alt3400m), you will see the early view of Mount Everest rages and many other mountain peaks, Hills, beautiful landscapes, monasteries, and temples, if the weather is clear when you arrive here.

Before you reach the highlights of pikey peak trek or at the top of pikey peak viewpoint (alt 4065m) you will trek through the fertile Sherpa people lands, pristine Sherpa villages, fascinating culture, charming people and their basic lifestyle, very old monasteries, Chorten,  waterfall, rivers, suspension bridges. Pikey peak trek itinerary

Day 1: Arrived in Kathmandu, (alt.1300m)

Day 2  Trek preparation day, (alt.1300m)

Day 3: Drive to Dhap,  8 to 9 hours,(altitude 3000m.)

Day 4: Trek to Jhapre, 4 to 5 hours ( altitude, 2920m.)

Day 5: Trek to pikey base camp, 5 to 6 hours ( altitude, 3640m.)

Day 6: Trek to pikey peak viewpoint (alt4065m.)   and trek down to Traktor (altitude 3020m), 7 to 8 hours.

Day 7: Trek to Jun best (3 to 4 hours), altitude,  alt. 2700m

Day 8: Visit Thupten Chholing monasteries and stay Jumbesi. altitude,  alt. 2700m4 to 5 hours)

Day 9: Trek back to  Phaplu  4 hours,(altitude, 2420m.) your trip is hands here.

Day 10: Drive to Kathmandu,( altitude, 1350m) OR you can take a short flight from Phaplu to Kathmandu (30 minutes).

Pikey peak trek is like other popular destinations also famous for seeing verities of Vegetation and much wildlife. Spring season if you are marching and May month you can closely see rhododendron in every corner of every single day, where more than 20 species of rhododendron found in lower Khumbu and it is blooming up every single tree and making the forest so much colorful. Similarly, other verities of the tree can see in this trek like pine, juniper. And many more.

Differently here can be seen many wild animals like black bear, barking deer, leopard, musk deer as well as domestic animal chauri gai(mixed of yak and hill cow), and above 3000 meters yak can be found.

When we recommend the best time to trek is obviously no doubt to say autumn and spring season which is month-wise, September – October – November – December, and march-April and may, these both seasons are the best recommendation season to trek, as usual, another part of Nepal. for the panoramic view to capture in your camera if we rank number one season and number two we put number one for the autumn season and number two spring because after monsoon sky is far clear so you can see distance view easily. In the spring season, some misty and hazy can be a little bit of disturb. So out of 10 autumn season gets 10 points and the spring season gets 8 points.

Pattale- Dhap Bazar- and pikey peak are three major viewpoints to see the top of the world. Among the three of them, pikey peak is one of the best viewpoints. But at some point when some time unluckily bad weather at pikey peak viewpoint then you don’t need to worry too much because there are still chances to was top of the world beginning of the trek few days as well as on the way driving back to Kathmandu when you have to drive back via pattale and Dhap Bazar.

 Thupten Chholing monastery (most beautiful and huge monastery in Khumbu region) 

Thupten Chholing monastery is one of the biggest Buddhist monasteries in all Khumbu regions and no doubt to be the biggest in lower Khumbu. Stabilized in 1960 by Trulshik Rimpoche, he left Tibet because of the threat from the current situation in Tibet. In this monastery there are more than 750 monks and nuns live and study and every year some numbers of Tibetan keep coming somehow they also get food and place to live at Thubten chholing monastery until the time they are not properly settled well or in their choice if they are nuns and monks then they can continuously join for further studies
