The Mardi Himal With Annapurna Base Camp Trek is a glorious trek that combines two very good scenic trails of Nepal within the Annapurna region. The best of which are the Annapurna Base Camp (ABC) treks. This one-of-a-kind adventure is drawn through a full range of climatic zones, dramatically varied terrains, and highly traditional settlements up to heights of 4500 meters (14,763 ft) at Mardi Himal Base Camp and 4,130 meters (13,550 ft) at Annapurna Base Camp.
Combining the tranquility of this infrequently traveled trail with the mythic, colorful routes of the Annapurna Sanctuary, the trek is the perfect blend of solitude and majestic Himalayan views. The trek offers not only the beauty of nature, but the deep-seated cultural experience that goes beyond the bounds of memories for every trekker.
The Mardi Himal trail first gives the trekkers peace as they begin to climb through the wonderful rhododendron forests while getting glimpses of the pretty villages and steep ridgelines looking over snow-dripped views of Macchapuchare (Fishtail), Annapurna South, and Hiunchuli. Higher up, the air is clean and crisp, rolling alpine meadows and snow-dusted slopes reveal stark scenery. Mardi Himal Base Camp, at an altitude of about 4,500 meters, is like stepping into another world: a beautifully verdant highland paradise where the nearby humongous peaks seem nearly close enough to touch. It feels somewhat like a baby secret, offering an intimate mountain experience far from established trekking circuits.
The walk departs gracefully from the sides of Mardi and plunges into the heart of Annapurna. The trail itself slithers through verdant bamboo and oak forests, crosses turquoise rivers on hanging bridges, and continues past village settlements steeped in Gurung hospitality and culture of ages. Moving through a maze of Landruk, Chhomrong, and Sinuwa, you will see smiling faces, fluttering prayer flags, and ancient stone pathways carved into the hills.
From here it gains height through a procession of dramatic views into the Modi Khola Valley. Very soon the huge cliffs with innumerable waterfalls and terraced fields will burst into view of the massive glacier basin — the Annapurna Sanctuary. Annapurna Base Camp (4,130m), within the embrace of a towering amphitheater of peaks, is awe-inspiring and humbling. Standing beneath the vertical south face of Annapurna I (8,091m), one of the world’s highest mountains, is a humbling and transformative experience — a moment of pure connection with nature’s raw grandeur.
In this way, the combined trek offers a perfect mixture of off-the-beaten-path adventure and the quintessential Himalayan experience. The changes in the topography speak of Nepal’s extraordinary diversity, which include sultry jungle to high alpine desert, pristine wilderness to spirited mountain towns. Every day presents fresh thrills: fiery sunrises that paint the mountains crimson, star-studded nights, watching yak herders trudge by, meeting monks, and mingling with travelers from all corners of the world.
A trek for those seeking a deeper and more evocative Himalayan experience, this route rewards in culture, scenery, and incredible fun. For the seasoned trekker or the motivated adventurer willing to meet the challenge, the Mardi Himal and Annapurna Base Camp Trek promises memories that will last a lifetime.

The Mardi Himal with Annapurna Base Camp trekking can be done throughout the year but the best season will be spring or autumn. Spring (March to May) is one ensuring most of the forests become colorful with bright rhododendron flowers, and the skies usually very clear. The weather is warm and pleasant, making it really comfortable for trekking during the day, although in the morning and evening at heights, one can still be a bit chilly.
The other excellent season is autumn (September to November). It is because the clearing of monsoon rains dusts clear mountain views with the most beautiful walking conditions. The temperature goes moderate as well, and trails are dry and easy to walk on. Heavy rains, muddy paths, and clouds shroud mountain views during the monsoon months (from June to August); hence trekking is not highly recommended during these months. Nevertheless, it verdant during monsoon and comes alive with its wildlife. Trekkers find fewer on the trail.
Meals and Food During the Trek
You will be well fed during the trekking period, you will be provided with the most nutritious and delicious meals. While trekking, you will mostly be eating at local tea houses. They serve and sell many types of food. Typical Nepali foods, like Dal Bhat (rice, lentils, and vegetables), fill tummies with energy for hiking. Other foods include momos (dumplings), noodle soup (Thukpa), pasta, sandwiches, pizzas, and Sherpa stew. Breakfast consists of Tibetan bread, porridge, pancakes, French toast, and eggs prepared in different styles. Lunch and dinner offer similar menus, so options are open to you as per your appetite.
