Trip Information
Difficulty of the Trek
The Nar Phu with Annapurna Circuit Trek is considered as the moderate to challenging trek because of several reasons .At first it’s high altitude as the trek involves crossing high passes like Kang La Pass(5,320m)and Thorong La Pass(5,416m),which poses the risk of altitude sickness.Second is the trek takes place in the remote and isolated area of Nepal where only basic facilities are available so,the trekkers needs to be extra careful while packing.Trekkers must be prepared for the wide range of weather condition as you reach to higher region weather becomes more unpredictable.
The trek involves daily hike of about 5-7 hrs with varying trials. In Nar Phu valley ,particularly between Meta and Phu village the trails can be narrow and rugged with occasional sections of loose gravel and rocks .In high passes like Kang La and Thorong La Pass it vary on weather and season and some section of the pass may require navigating through the icy and rocky terrain especially in winter season it will be more difficult to navigate as the passes may be covered with the snow making it even more challenging to cross the pass.
Altitude Sickness during Narphu valley with Annapurna Circuit Trek:
Acute Mountain Sickness(AMS) also known as Altitude Sickness is a serious condition which arises as the trekkers or climber ascend to high altitude too quickly without getting the body to adapt to the change environment. It typically starts becoming noticeable above 2,500m (8,200 ft). Symptoms of Altitude sickness include headache, nausea,Fatigue, dizziness, loss of appetite and difficulty in sleeping. If you feel any of these symptoms then it’s better to consult with your guide as the trek takes place in remote areas and hospital facilities are scarce.Your guide will recommend you appropriate action such as rest, hydration or descending at lower section.
Although they are not expert but they have experience and it’s essential to communicate openly with your guide about the symptoms always prioritize your health and safety over reaching destination don’t ignore the symptoms by thinking it will go away or you can push through it cause ignoring the symptoms can lead to worsening your health . Make sure to listen your body and take the appropriate actions.
During the trek make sure your body is being hydrated and it’s important to acclimatize gradually by ascending slowly ,take some regular rest. Avoid drinking alcohol and eating tobacco, eat healthy food and pack some energy bars too.Include acclimatization day in the itinerary so that your body adapts to the reduced oxygen level.
Communication,Electricity and Water during the trek
During the Nar Phu Valley with Annapurna Circuit Trek ,you can use the internet service at the lodge where you stay, however it costs extra money. As you reach higher altitudes it will be hard to find wifi so while you are staying in kathmandu you can buy sim card and buy the one month data package which might cost like $15 .As it is mentioned earlier Nar Phu is isolated and remote area so,it will be hard to find network in some areas like Meta,Phu and Nar so according to the itinerary inform your family and friend about the potential limitation of communication.
Electricity
Throughout the Nar Phu Valley with Annapurna Circuit Trek you can use the electricity facility but in some areas in Nar Phu valley the facilities are limited so we advise you to bring headlight, universal adapter and spare batteries or power banks to ensure access to power when needed.
There are numerous natural water sources such as streams, rivers and spring throughout the trek where trekkers can refill their water bottles. However ,it’s important to treat or purify water so bring water purification tablets, filters or portable water purifiers. Some lodges and teahouses offers hot shower facilities for additional fee. However hot shower at higher altitudes may not be available.
