Accommodation during 10 days Annapurna Circuit Trek
On the Annapurna Circuit Trek, the most common form of accommodation is tea houses-small family-run-gatehouses comfort with basic but decent rooms. The rooms in tea houses usually come with a bed and a cotton blanket, sometimes with a pillow, but the bathrooms are mostly shared. The rooms are quite rustic and with little amenity as you climb higher. The general areas have stoves and heaters, but they do not heat the rooms. Tea houses offer mostly regular food from the very basic Nepali dal bhat and momos to international choices such as pasta and pancakes. Being at extreme altitudes, prices skyrocket, but you should expect more expensive food, as it is very hard to carry up.
In the low areas, the houses are comfortable compared to the basic ones at the higher altitudes with poorer facilities. The accommodation facility generally gets full during peak trekking times, and reservations therefore should be made prior to travel, especially for popular destinations such as Manang, Thorong Phedi, and Muktinath. For those after adventure, camping is a possibility in remote sides of trek. It, however requires more equipment and permits
Meals During the Trek
The trekking itself being demanding and straining, meals are prepared to be simple, nutritious, and sustaining energy for the trekkers. The tea houses generously serve Nepali, Indian, and Western cuisine, catering to the whims and fancies of numerous trekkers. Common meals include dal bhat, a traditional Nepali meal comprising lentil soup (dal) and rice (bhat) served usually with vegetables and pickles. Momos, Nepali dumplings filled with meat or vegetables, make another common snack. Lower in altitude, there’ll even be pasta, noodles, and fried rice-to the taste of many a weary traveller.
As one ascends higher into the Himalaya, a limited range of food becomes available, but you’ll find simple fare such as soup, pancakes, and porridge. Food is more expensive in high regions due to the difficult logistics of getting it there. Tea and coffee are available everywhere during your trek, along with snacks like biscuits or chocolate bars.
