Tsum Valley Trek situated close to the Manaslu range was only opened for trekking in 1992 and is now acknowledged as one of the finest trekking routes.
Tsum Valley Trek is a sacred Himalayan pilgrimage valley situated in the trans-Himalayan region of Gorkha, Nepal. Tsum comes from the Tibetan work ‘Tsombo,’ which means vivid. The Tsum Valley’s acquaintance with Tibet, its natural beauty, and its pristine culture make this trekking unique. This serene Himalayan valley is rich in ancient art, culture, and religion, and insights into the Chortens and Mani walls. Tsum Valley is a well-known foundational region for Gumbas and Ringboche and amongst them is My-gumba. The local people are mostly of Tibetan origin and seek a unique dialect. The journey will have a high preference for Buddhist cultures and sightseeing of beautiful landscapes. People travel to Tibet during July/August to buy some basic needs to support their lifestyles for a year.

Day 02 Drive from Kathmandu to Soti Khol via Arughat (alt.620m),6-7 hrs
After breakfast ,you will be picked up from your hotel and we will drive to Soti khola via Arughat enjoying the landscape.The journey takes around 6-7 hrs offering you a scenic drive through hills and villages.

Day 03 Trek to Machhi Khola ,(alt.880m),4-5 hrs
Your trek begins from Soti Khola and you will follow the Budhi Gandaki river and make your way towards Macchi Khola.The trail takes you through a mix of lush forest,terraced fields and charming villages.
As you walk by the riverbank you’ll cross several suspension bridges over Budhi Gandaki river.The path may include some rocky and uneven sections and the trek passes through dense,green forest,terraced farmland and different small villages
.Macchi Khola- a small located at an altitude of 880m translates to “Fish River”referring to the river that flows through the village.

Day 04 Trek from Machha Khola -Dobhan(1000,)6-7 hrs
Today’s trek begins in Machhi Khola and follows the Budhi Gandaki river ascending gradually towards Doban.The trails includes ascends and descents with the terrain varying between well-trodden paths and more rugged narrower trails.
You’ll pass by few waterfalls,small village,dense forests with diverse flora and fauna.After walking for 3 hours we will take some rest and have some drink and lunch and then continue our trek it takes around 6-7 hrs and we will reach Dobhan.

Day 05 Dobhan-Philim(1,590m),5-6 hrs
After having a hearty breakfast we will start our trek to reach Philim which will takes around 5-6 hrs.The path gradually ascends taking you through forests and terraced farmland where local farmers grow crops.
The trail also passes through a few small villages offering a chance to interact with local people and observe their traditional way of life.The trail is generally well-trodden with a mix of easy and moderate sections.You can expect some rocky and uneven trails.

Day 06 Philim-lokpa(alt.2220m)-Chumling,(alt.2310m),6-7 hrs
For today’s trek you will start your day with an elevation of approximately 2220m in Philim and then gradually ascend to 2,310m in Chumling.The trail heads to north ,following budhi gandaki consists of well- defined paths,usually it takes around 6-7 hours depending on your pace and the stops on the way.
As you walk the paths leads to higher areas through the terraces of golden fields of wheat,barley and then climb on rocky ridge top into bamboo forest area to research Eklai Bhatti(Lonely Inn),where many shops are newly built.The Trail surface varies from dirt paths to stone steps in some sections and it’s well-marked with signs.
As you reach the high altitude you’ll have the glimpse of snow-capped peaks of Manaslu range ,depending on the weather.As you approach to chumling ,you will pass through the villages with Tibetian influence architecture and culture.Chumling itself is a charming village with a traditional monastery.

Day 07 Chumling-Chhekamper(3,010m)-Nile,(alt.3480m)7-8 hrs
In today’s trek you will ending up at an elevation of around 3,480m to Nile which meanswe will have notable increase in elevation,so take your time to adjust to the altitude.The trek usually takes around 7-8 hrs.
The trails between Chumling-Chhekamper and Nile generally consist of a mix of well-trodden path and rugged terrain.We will encounter the several river which we will cross through the suspension bridges and the path passes through the dense forest where you can encounter different types of flora and fauna.
You’ll be treated to panoramic views of Budhi Gandaki River valley and its rugged beauty,with steep cliffs and lush green forests.the trek offers the stunning views of Manaslu(8,156m),Ganesh Himal ranges and surrounding peaks mainly when we approach to Nile.On the way you’ll also see the villages ,with unique architecture and chortens(Buddhist stupas),mani walls,and prayer flags.

Day 08 Exploration day:Nile-Mu Gompa(3,709m)back to Chhekampar(3,010m) 7-8 hrs
For todays we will have an exploration day at our main destination which is Mu Gompa.The trail from Nile to Mu Gompa is well-trodden but can be rugged and steep in sections.The paths usually follows the Shiar Khola (river)valley and gradually ascends as you make your way towards the monastery.
You’ll experience gain about 229m from Nile to Mu Gompa.The trails offers the stunning views including the view of Ganesh Himal ranges and other himalayan peaks.
Mu Gompa is one of the oldest and important monasteries in the region.The monastery offers a fascinating glimpse into the Tibetan Buddhism culture and tradition .
You’ll see prayer wheels,intricate murals and ancient artifact.After admiring the beauty of monastery and we will return back to Chhekampar while returning back we will return by the same route.We will stop for the lunch at Nele and walk back to Chhekampar which will take about 2 hrs.

Day 09 Chhekampar-Lokpa(2,240m)5-6 hrs.
The trek from Chhekampar(3,010m) to Lokpa(2,240m) is an exciting descents which will take you through the beautiful landscapes and culturally rich villages.The trek is typically completed in about 5-6 hrs.As we descend from Chhekampar to Lokpa,we’ll experience the drop of around 770m.
Todays trek will take you through lush forest including rhododendron and pine forests.As You descend you’ll notice an increase in a vegetation.After walking for like 3 to 4 hrs we will stop by to get the rest and after resting for a while we will continue our trek and after some hrs of walking we will reach Lokpa-a small village nested in the hill and is known for its beautiful views and traditional architecture.

Day 10 Trek back to Dovan,(alt.1590m)6-7hrs
We will trek back through the same route a we went up.From the Lokpa to Philim it will take around 2 hrs and from the Philim to Jagat it will takes about 1.5 hrs and in Jagat we will stop by to have some lunch and rest in some teahouse and after resting and enjoying the lunch and view for a while we will trek back to our destination for today which is dovan and it takes about 2.5 hrs walking alongside with Budhigandaki river.

Day 12 Trek back to Soti Khola(alt.710m)5-6 hrs
We will begin our trek after having the hearty breakfast and ,it takes 5 to 6 hrs .We will descend slowly admiring the beauty and enjoying .We will take the same route as we went up .We will stop by to have the lunch and continue our walk until we reach to Soti Khola.
Options:
Near Khorla Besi-Machhikhola,you can choose to take a drive instead of walking, however if the road conditions are okay then only.In early autumn to late spring season ,the road condition might not be as good to drive because of the landslides.

Day 13 Drive Back to Kathmandu from Soti Khola-Aru ghat(alt.1300m)6-7 hrs
After Having breakfast we will drive back to Kathmandu by car,jeep or bus depending upon the group size and it takes around 6-7 hrs to reach kathmandu but it also depends upon the road conditions traffic .
While we are on our way back we will stop by to have the lunch and once we reach to Kathmandu we will take you at your hotel and bid the farewell with your guide and porter .

During The Tsum Valley Trek ,trekkers will primarily stay in teahouses and lodges along the trekking routes.These types of accommodation are simple but comfortable,providing the unique way to experience the local culture and the hospitality.Teahouses and lodges offer basic facilities like bed,blanket and pillow .Rooms are typically twin sharing and common toilet and bathrooms depends on the teahouses.These teahouse provides meals,usually featuring Nepali cuisine such as dal bhat (rice and lentils),noodles,mooms(dumplings) and other local dishes.Wifi service may be available in some tea houses,especially in more popular areas of the route.These teahouses owners and staff are generally friendly and welcoming offering trekkers a chance to interact with local people and learn more about their culture and way of life.
Physical Fitness
The Tsum Valley Trek is a moderate trek that requires a reasonable level of physical fitness and stamina.The trek involves a mix of ascents and descents with some challenging sections, particularly at higher altitudes.Daily walking of about 4-7 hrs ,depending on the days and terrain.The trails are varied ,with some rocky paths and uneven terrain.Tsum Valley Trek reaches a maximum altitude of approximately 3,709m(12,168 ft).While this altitude is not extremely high as compared to some other treks in Nepal,it is still important to take proper precautions and acclimatize properly to avoid altitude sickness.In order to ensure you are physically prepared for the trek make sure you do some cardiovascular exercises activities like running,cycling and hiking can help your cardiovascular fitness.While you are creating the itinerary for the trek make sure you have at least one day as acclimatization day.
Transportation:
We will pick you up in private jeep or car or bus depending on the group size and drive from Kathmandu to Soti Khola via Arughat.It is a comfortable and scenic drive which you will enjoy and relax while admiring the beautiful landscapes.And after completing the trek,we will also arrange return transportation through the same route.
Meals during the trek
During the Tsum Valley trek,you will find a variety of meals available at the teahouses and the lodges along the routes.These accommodations offer simple yet hearty meals that provides you with the necessary energy and nutrition during the trek.For the breakfast option usually include items like pancakes,toast with jam or butter,eggs,porridge.Hot beverages such as tea,coffee and hot chocolate and for lunch the menu option commonly includes:noodle soup,fried noodles,Dalbhat or vegetable curries.For dinner tea houses have the menu options dal-bhat,noodles,momos(dumplings)and other local or Nepali-style dishes.We always recommend our client to eat healthy food or foods from local teahouses as these teahouses serves the green vegetables which are freshly picked from their own garden and it’s healthy too.While trekking it’s important to eat healthy foods and get the energy to trek.
