Are you restless? Do you feel tired and have lost the meaning of life? Then pack your suitcase quickly, and join our Mount Kailash Tour from Nepal where you can find inner harmony both in splendid isolation or in the company of religious pilgrims who are also on a journey to the spiritual realm of Kailash.
The famous Mount Kailash tour from Nepal is also known for its combination of natural beauty with strong bioenergy. Performing various practices along its sacred grounds is believed to help you to be reborn on an energetic and spiritual level and find the desired harmony.
Standing alone at 6638 m like a silent watcher in Ngari of western Tibet, Mount Kailash is surrounded by layers of secrets and deep mysteries. Regarded as the center of the Universe and the connecting bridge between heaven, Man, and earth, Mount Kailash is considered the holy residence of Lord Shiva (God of destruction and rebirth) by the Hindu devotees. Accordingly, he resides here with his wife Goddess Parvati, and children Kartikey and Ganesh.
The mountain has four sides that face the four directions of the compass. According to Vishnu Purana, each side represents the face of Lord Shiva. And, as the sun sets, the shadow cast by the mountains reveals the Swastika symbol on Kailash which in Hinduism is the symbol of auspiciousness, luck, and the infinite cycle of the universe.
Therefore, this is the sacred land where you can feel the blessings of Lord Shiva and his family. Visiting this place, you can attain spiritual purification and protection.
On the other hand, for the followers of Buddhism, Mount Kailash is the holy abode of Chakrasamvara or Demchoka Buddhists and for the Jains, it is the site where their first Teacher/Master Guru Rishavadeva achieved nirvana.
It is precisely for this reason, that Mount Kailash has been the destination for pilgrims of Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, and Bonism for thousands of years. Every year, thousands of pilgrims/yatris/devotees come to Kailash to circumambulate the mountain in a clockwise direction except for Bonism who circumnavigates in an anticlockwise direction.
This 53 km long three-day journey is called Kora by Tibetans and Parikrama by Hindus. For them, it is not only walking around Kailash, but it is also a religious and spiritual awakening journey that purifies one’s soul and wash away sins leading pilgrims to salvation or nirvana.
However, the Mount Kailash Tour 2025/2026 will be incomplete without the Parikrama of Lake Mansarovar. The sacred lake lies at the foot of Kailash at an elevation of 4485 m. A thin line separates it from Rakshastal the Devil’s Lake. The shape of Lake Mansarovar resembles the sun while the Rakshastal shape resembles the moon.
For faithful, Lake Mansarovar is the creation of the Lord Brahma’s (God of creation) mind thus the name Mansarovar. Its blue and emerald waters are regarded as a symbol of absolute purity that possesses remarkable healing qualities and the ability to purify one’s soul from all mortal wrongdoings.
For the believers, by performing Parikrama around Lake Mansarovar, your wishes will be fulfilled. It will also grant eternal liberation to the souls of our departed ancestors, freeing them from the perpetual cycle of life and death. It is also believed that those who purify themselves by bathing in the holy lake water can directly access the divine abode of God.
In relation to our upcoming Mount Kailash Tour in 2025/2026, we will embark on a 17-day journey to Mount Kailash with a night stay at Lake Mansarovar. Early morning after Puja and Homa at the shore of the lake, we will drive around it by bus and begin our Parikrama around Kailash from Darchen for four days.
Additionally, in our Mount Kailash Tour from Nepal, we have taken an additional step to provide a unique experience for our pilgrims. We have secured a special permit for those Yatris who desire to trek to Charan Sparsha and physically touch Mount Kailash.
Our Yatris can also visit Atmalingam, Saptarishi cave, and the Ice Lingam. The route is called the Inner Circle or Inner Kora of Kailash. Undertaking both Outer and inner Kora, you will have Darshana (Sacred Visual) of the Western, northern, and southern faces of Kailash.
However, if you are a skeptical trekker and a non-believer, eagerly seeking an adrenaline rush amidst the magnificent landscapes, then our Mount Kailash Tour in 2025/2026 will be the perfect adventure for you.
Mount Kailash is a spectacular natural wonder, unique and unattainable, and an example of natural beauty. And, the Kora trek offers you a unique chance to climb the massive Drolma La Pass at 5630 m traversing along the rocky Tibetan terrain. Additionally, exploring the Inner circle of Kailash presents a challenging glacial and icy trail that will push your limits.
You will also have the opportunity to see some rare and uncommon wild animals on this trip such as wild donkeys, Tibetan antelopes, yaks, and black-necked cranes, especially in rivers or grassland areas along the way.
So, intrigued are you? If so, book our Mount Kailash Tour 2025/2026 now or join us on our current Mount Kailash Tour from Nepal and experience the charm of the sacred mountain in person. Together we will go to Kailash and unveil its mysteries.

The first option is the journey to Mount Kailash via Lhasa from Kathmandu and the second alternative approach to Kailash is a Helicopter tour via Nepalgunj and Simikot.
Overland tour from Kathmandu to Mount Kailash via Lhasa from Kathmandu

After obtaining the Chinese Visa and necessary permits in Kathmandu, you will fly to Lhasa where you will stay for two days getting used to these conditions and enjoying its extraordinary cultural heritage.
From Lhasa, you will travel past Gyantse, and Shigatse to the Kailash region to redeem your sins by circumambulating the mountain. The route follows the same from Darchen till it culminates at Darchen again via Dirapuk and Zhutulpuk monastery.
Kailash Helicopter Tour via Simikot
If time is short and you have a strong desire to complete the Kailash tour, the Kailash Helicopter Tour via Simikot will be an ideal option for you. With an internal flight to Nepalgunj, you will be boarded in a helicopter from its airport and fly over Simikot to reach Hilsa.
The road forward will then drive you along the ancient trade routes, traversing through the marvelous gorges of the Himalayas, before you enter the vast Tibetan landscape. Darchen town will be on the horizon from where you will circumnavigate the sacred Mountain like other pilgrims.
After completing the Kailash Parikrama, you will drive to Taklakot and fly back to Kathmandu via Nepalgunj.
Option for Mount Kailash Tour from Nepal with Everest Base Camp
When planning a Mount Kailash tour from Nepal, it is also possible to visit the highly prestigious and acclaimed Everest Base Camp in Tibet as part of a single journey.
The adventure will begin in Kathmandu from where you can either take a flight to Lhasa or drive to Kerung. If you opt for the flight, your travel program will include stops in Gyantse, Shigatse, and Shegar, leading you to the Rongbuk Monastery near Everest Base Camp.
After exploring EBC, you will continue your drive through Tingri to Saga, thus setting off towards Kailash. On the other hand, if you choose to drive from Kathmandu to Kerung, you will make your way to Tingri and then to Rongbuk Monastery and EBC.
From there, you will head to Saga for the Kailash Parikrama. One significant advantage of integrating the EBC visit into your Mount Kailash tour is the opportunity for gradual acclimatization, which will prepare your body for the demanding Inner Kora around Kailash.

We will leave Darchen and start walking in a clockwise direction along with numerous pilgrims and Tibetan natives. Our path will wind along the western slope of Kailash and follow the ridge which blesses us with the momentary Darshana of the Kailash’s southern face.
We will then come across an arch or gateway adorned with colorful flags which are freshly put every year in the Saga Dawa Festival celebrated by Tibetans around April. Day 12 Exploring the North Side of Mt. Kailash Inner Kora
Undertaking the Inner Kora of Kailash is a challenge in itself and obtaining the necessary permits adds to the difficulty. However, we have successfully managed the Inner Kora possible for you.
Kailash Inner Kora is a shorter route but more demanding due to the glaciers and icy terrain. however, faithful believe those who complete the Inner Kora will attain deep self-realization, purification, and enlightenment. Day 13 Dirapuk to ZhutulPuk over Dolma-La Pass (Alt 5630 m) Total 22km, 9-10 hours
Today marks the third leg of our Kailash Parikrama which is the most challenging and long as we will confront the mighty Drolma La Pass to reach ZhutulPuk monastery.
We will therefore march before dawn and move towards Jarok Donkhang. Then, the route climbs uphill towards the mysterious Shiva Tsal cemetery – the ancient sky burial site of the Tibetans. Pilgrims leave behind their old remnants (Can be any old items: old clothes, a drop of blood, lock of hair, etc) to shed away their past lives and negative Karma making the way for the spiritual transformation.

We will also leave behind our old items and progress to climb the Drolma La Pass- the holy home of Goddess Tara/Drolma or Goddess Parvati.
The huge mass of vibrant prayer flags dancing in the wind are the welcoming site at the top of the Pass. As we climb down from the Pass, we will come across the sacred Gauri Kunda Lake recognized as Tso Tuksche by the locals at an elevation of 5608 m. The Lake is associated with Goddess Gauri or Parvati who is said to have birthed Lord Ganesh on the lake shore.
Devotees often fill the bottle with its sacred water to later cleanse their homes and offices. Further down, the Axe of Karma greets us which is believed to free us from negative karma.

The rocky terrain will next lead us to the ZhutulPuk monastery translated as Cave of Miracles. According to the legend, Milarepa performed several miracles here. Our accommodation is situated opposite side of the monastery where we will rest for the night.

Trip Information
How does our journey begin?
Since the procedure to enter Tibet takes three working days, you will stay in Kathmandu for those days and take a trip with an interesting visit to Kathmandu and its valley.
After receiving the permits, you will then drive to Kerung via Syabrubesi where you will stay for a day to acclimate to the Tibetan atmosphere. Next, you will begin a road trip to Mount Kailash passing through Saga.
Arriving at Kailash, you will also stop at Lake Manasarovar, one of the most sacred lakes in Buddhism and Hinduism. Then, you will drive to Darchen from where the Outer and Inner Kora of Kailash begins for 4 days.
After completing the Kailash circumnavigation, you will return to Nepal through Kerung and Syabrubesi of Rasuwa district.
Best Season
Choosing the right time is crucial for the Mount Kailash Tour from Nepal. Generally, in terms of temperature and weather, April to the first half of October is the most ideal season. During this period, the temperature in Tibet gradually rises, with warm days like summer and slightly cool nights, making the temperature suitable and comfortable.
It is particularly worth mentioning that the Saga Dawa Festival probably during April, May, or June is also a great time to go to Mount Kailash. The temperature might be slightly cooler, it is not too cold and is suitable for hiking. At the same time, it is not yet the rainy season in Tibet, the sky is clear and the visibility is good.
In addition, the locals regard this month as an auspicious month. Tourists can take this opportunity to celebrate this grand traditional festival with the locals, feel the strong cultural atmosphere, and deeply experience the charm of Tibetan culture.
For Hindu believers on the other hand, full moon days of (May, June, July, August, and September (Jesth, Srawan, and Bhadra ) are luckiest dates for Kailash pilgrim to remove the sins, and negative karma of our past lives.
From late October to February, the temperature in Tibet gradually decreases eventually reaching minus degrees accompanied by high-speed winds that lead to the closure of the mountain trail till April of the next year.
Difficulty
The Mount Kailash Tour 2025/2026 is going to be an arduous journey presenting physical and mental challenges for both tourists and pilgrims. The high altitude, thin air, narrow and rugged trails, and omnipresent cold add to the challenge.
During the Mount Kailash tour from Nepal, within a few hours, you will travel from the low plains of Kathmandu to the high elevation of Kerung. From here on, the altitude keeps on increasing as you progress in your journey.
Additionally, during the Kailash Parikrama, you will overcome the challenge of an average altitude of 4500 m and cross the Drolma La Pass at 5630 m- the highest point of this circumambulation.
The conditions along the trek during Kora though have improved compared to the past but they are still relatively limited compared to other cities in Tibet, so this circumambulation is not going to be an easy experience.
However, if you are well-trained and well-prepared, it is not difficult to successfully complete the Kailash Parikrama. As your trusted partner in Nepal, we will do our best to provide you with the most comprehensive support.
We will provide you with the professional support of our local experienced guides and drivers who will ensure your safe arrival at the sacred mountain and lake. Our guides possess extensive pilgrimage experience, and so they are familiar with the terrain.
In addition, they have received professional training to deal with altitude sickness that may occur during the trek, ensuring that you have the best support during your trip to Mount Kailash.
Preparation and Training
Our upcoming Mount Kailash tour 2025/2026 will take you on a road journey most of the time except during the Kailash circumambulation period of four days. The availability of renting horses and hiring helpers have made the kora quite comfortable still you will be traversing in the high-altitude zone of Tibet where the oxygen levels are significantly lower.
Additionally, crossing the challenging Drolma La Pass and undertaking the Inner Kora demands extra caution. Therefore, advanced physical and mental preparation is needed for this journey.
We suggest you do aerobic exercises such as jogging or brisk walking to help improve your cardiovascular fitness and endurance. This is very important for coping with the relatively low oxygen content in high-altitude environments.
Also, do stretching exercises regularly, especially for the legs, back, shoulders, and neck. This helps to enhance the body’s flexibility and relieve muscle tension caused by hiking. In addition, do strength training such as squats and planks to strengthen the legs and back.
By doing these physical exercises in advance, you will better adapt to the hiking environment of Mount Kailash, reduce physical fatigue, and complete the hiking pilgrimage of Mount Kailash more safely and easily.
Altitude Sickness
Altitude sickness will be the major concern for our Mount Kailash tour from Nepal. Within a span of a few days, you will transition from the low plain of Kathmandu to the higher elevation of the Tibetan plateau.
Some people can adapt to this transition with a day while some may need 4 to 5 days to adapt. According to our previous experiences of Mount Kailash tours from Nepal, most Yatris have adapted to the high-altitude air within 3 to 5 days.
Considering these factors, our team has designed this program to allow a gradual increase in altitude providing you ample time to rest and enjoy the sights of Tibet.
Still, altitude sickness is something that we cannot predict so we suggest you follow some precautions to prevent its occurrence. Please hydrate yourself by drinking plenty of fluids and water, walking slowly, and not racing.
If you feel headache, nauseated, dizzy, panicky, and short of breath, please report your situation to our guide in time, and he will get you proper treatment as soon as possible. You can take the Diuretic medicine Diamox or the Tibetan herb Hongjingtian to reduce symptoms.
And please choose an experienced and professional travel team like us who will create an itinerary suitable to your needs, and physical capability with a focus on proper acclimatization.
Health and Safety on Mount Kailash Tour from Nepal
The major requirement for our Mount Kailash tour from Nepal is for you to be in excellent health. The environment in Tibet is already demanding, and the conditions at Kailash are even more harsher. The climate here is characterized by abrupt weather changes, powerful winds, and significant temperature fluctuations that can present hindrances for the Yatris.
On the other hand, the high altitude and reduced oxygen levels in this harsh terrain add to the challenges. The Outer Parikrama of Kailash can be undertaken on ponies or yaks, the inner kora requires you to walk.
Therefore, those with existing long-term health issues, particularly related to the respiratory, kidney, or heart systems, should avoid this journey, as their health conditions may worsen. If you feel Kailash is calling you and this is your time, then please seek medical advice before proceeding on this tour.
In addition to health considerations, it is also essential to consider the political situation in Tibet. After the Dalai Lama’s exile, possessing a picture or poster of him or even mentioning his name is strictly prohibited.
We also advise you against taking photographs of police or militaries in Tibet and throughout China, as this may lead to complications. It is better to ask for permission before photographing any people and kindly note that some temples may charge a fee for photography.
However, there is no need to stress as these military posts are for the security of the people not to threaten them. Also, the presence of monks in the region has welcomed peace and serenity here.
Visa Preparation
China keeps on implementing new rules and guidelines to maintain control over the entry of foreign nationals into their nation. Currently, for the Mount Kailash tour from Nepal, we need a Chinese Group Visa, a Foreign Affairs permit, Military Permit, a Tibet Travel Permit, and Aline’s travel permit.
As your local travel agency, we will be responsible for obtaining the Tibet Visa and Chinese Group Visa on your interest. Our Tibetan counterpart will handle the obtaining of other permits in Tibet.
Kindly note that the Tibet Travel permit, Chinese Group Visa, and other essential permits are only issued if you book your Mount Kailash tour with an authorized travel and trek company like us.
Once you book this tour, and you arrive in Kathmandu, we will initiate the process for the Visa application as your presence is a must in the Chinese Embassy for biometric registration.
We also like to inform you that both the Chinese Visa and Tibet Travel permits are issued for a group which means there is only one document for all group members and everyone in the group must leave China at the same time.
Mount Kailash is nestled in one of the sensitive regions of Tibet- the Ngari prefecture. To gain access to such a sensitive region, we therefore need the Military Permit and the Foreign Affairs permit issued by the Chinese Military and the Foreign Affairs Office of Tibet respectively.
It is obligatory to present a Tibet Travel permit, Chinese group Visa and your passport to secure these permits. The processing for the permit requires approximately 10 to 15 official working days, so we will make the necessary arrangements as soon as we receive the Tibet Travel permit and Chinese group visa.
The Tibetan Local Public Security Bureau office will be responsible for issuing Aline’s Travel Permit on-site after the presentation of your Visa and permits.
Please note that China has lifted the ban on Indian travelers entering the country, which was put in place after the COVID-19 pandemic.
However, there are some ongoing political and border issues between China and India because of which China has imposed a new set of guidelines for the Indian passport holders who tend to enter China via Indian Government agencies.
Tibet Border Guard Corps of the Armed Police, Tibet Foreign Office, the Public Security Department of Tibet, and the Tibet Military are separate bodies that will authorize their entry into China.
As for those Indian Nationals who enter Tibet via Nepal and book such tours with authorized Nepali travel agencies, the Visa and permit guidelines are the same as for other nationals.
