The Short Everest Basecamp trek is a famous trekking trail in the lap of Mount Everest (8848.86m from sea level) which is the tallest mountain in the world. It is the most popular trekking destination among adventure lovers from all around the world.  A short Everest base camp trek takes 11-12  days.  The trek begins after a scenic flight to Lukla and ends also in Lukla before taking a flight back to Kathmandu. Short Everest Base Camp trek begins after short and scenic flights from Kathmandu to Lukla. Once you arrive in Lukla you will meet with your trekking crews and get ready on the first day of your trek to Phakding from Lukla through the local villages and cross a few suspension bridges over the Dudh Kosi river to  the Phagding for 3-4 hours.  Phagding is a village in the lap of the Dudh Kosi river.

On the second day  of your trek you will trek from Phakding to Namche Bazzar  through the villages and at Manjo  you have to buy the sagarmatha national park permits and then you will cross a few suspension bridges. Before we make it a Namche bazaar you will have a first chance to see the  Mount Everest range  if weather permits you otherwise you have to wait another day. At Namche you will spend a couple of nights as required  acclimatizing before going to Everest Base Camp . On the rest day  you will hike to Everest view hotel  (Alt. 3800m) for good acclimatization and from Everest hotel you will see the strengthened panoramic views of mount Everest range including 100s of surrounded beautiful, and  visit national park museum , as well  Namche is the biggest local market in this area where locals shop for food and necessary food items.

From Namche you will trek to Tengboche monastery (Alt.3820m) it is one of the very famous and old monasteries in the Khumbu valley. After hours of walking, finally you will reach Lobuche for an overnight stay.

Day 01 Day 1: Arrive in Kathmandu and transfer to your Hotel. (alt.1300m)

Nature explore trek airport representatives will pick you up at the airport with warm welcome and transfer to your hotel. Once you arrive at Hotel you will be allocated your room and take rest and refreshment after a long journey from home to Kathmandu. 02

Day 02 Drive to airport and Fly to Lukla ,(alt. 2780m,) 30 minutes) and trek to Phakding (alt. 2610m) 3- 4 hours.

Early in the morning you will drive to the airport and fly to Lukla and trek to Phakding for about 3- 4 hours. After a scenic 30 minutes flight from Kathmandu will land in Lukla airport ,Lukla is the gateway of the Everest base camp trek where your trek begins after final preparation for walking and taking warm tea and quick snacks and in the meantime you will meet porters in lukla. The trek will continue to Phakding for about 3 to 4 hours. Descend slightly through the beautiful sherpa villages, mane wall, Tshorten , pry flags and cross a few suspension bridges. Along the way you can stop for lunch at Ghat if not feeling hungry and then you can directly go to Phagdink for lunch and overnight stay.

Note: In the high pick season like October – November and March , April all the flights fly from Ramechhap airport instead of Kathmandu so, you have to drive 3-4 hours Kathmandu to Ramechhap airport and take a short flight to Lukla.

Day 03 Trek from Phakding to Namche Bazzar (alt. 3410m) ,5 -6 hours

Second day of your trek starts after a warm breakfast at the lodge about 7:30 to 8:00 am in the morning. Total hike today is 5 to 6 hours including lunch break. Beginning of the day you will trek through numerous villages , Tea houses , waterfalls, and several suspension bridges. After two hours trek you will reach at Manjo village where you have to buy the Sagarmatha national park permits, once your guide manage all permits and then you 20 to 25 minutes walk to Jorsalle through the suspension bridge over the Dudh kosi river where you will stop for lunch before long ascend to the Namche bazaar. After lunch, a 40 to 50 minute trek to Hillary bridge gradually ascends and once you cross the hanging high suspension bridge the trek is a bit challenging as in the last part of the day you will ascend 500m to Namche through the zingjack path and thick pine , lush forest. If the weather permits you will have the first view of Mount Everest from Chor camp viewpoint, otherwise you have to wait for the next day. Definitely you will feel the hard last part of the day as you are facing a first big hill ascend on this trek ,but once you reach Namche bazaar you will be treated with a beautiful view of Namche Bazaar (alt.3410m) with warm hospitality by lodge.

Day 04 Rest and acclimatization day at Namche (alt.3410m)

As you are trekking to Everest base camp alt. 5364m from sea level extra nights stay at Namche and acclimatization is compulsory to all trekkers.and most of the trekkers used to do the same. The day starts after breakfast , today you will hike to Everest view Hotel (alt.3880m) 3 – 4 hours ,and in the afternoon return to the lodge for lunch. After a half an hour walk from your tea house you will have the first view of Mount Everest range , Ama Dablam , Thamserku , Twache , Kusumkangaru, Kongde peak , Khumbila including 100s of beautiful panoramic views from Army camp. As required for good enough acclimatization you will ascend to Everest view Hotel a few more hours. At Everest view Hotel you can drink hot tea and enjoy the panoramic views of Mt. Everest ranges in close distance. Afternoon you will return to the lodge for a hot lunch and you have free time until dinner time. You can explore the Namche Bazaar or take a rest and relax at a lodge.

Day 05 Trek from Namche Bazzar to Tengboche Monastery , 5- 6 hours, (alt.3860m)

After breakfast , you will trek from Namche bazzar to Tengboche on day four of the short Everest base camp trek. Beginning of the day you will trek gradual ascents to Kayanjungma one and half hours, and in the meantime you will have a magnificent view of Mount Everest range , Mt. Ama Dablam , Thamserku including numerous beautiful peaks surround the trail. Descend to Phungi Thanga at the river side for lunch . After lunch you will ascend approx 500m to Tengboche monastery. It’s a bit challenging part of the day ,but when you reach the top of the hill you will be mesmerized with the beautiful culture of Tengboche monastery and Mt. Everest range , Ama Dablam view in close distance. You can visit inside the monastery everyday after 4 pm used to allowing the trekkers with a warm welcome by monks and you can see their daily puja ceremony and pray for your journey to Everest base camp to successfully reach the last destination of this trek.

Day 06 Trek from Tengboche to Dingboche , 5 - 6 hours , (alt.4410m)

First part of the trek today you will short descend and gradually walk to suspension bridge before ascending to Pangboche villages (alt. 3900m), 2 hours. where you can stop for hot tea and enjoy the beautiful view of Ama Dablam (alt.6812m) in close distance. Those people who have a plan to climb Ama Dablam the trail are spared from here. You will trek another hour to Sommar for lunch and after lunch you will continue trekking through beautiful landscapes for the final 2 more hours gradually ascending to Dingboche for overnight stay. Dingboche is one of the most famous places along the Everest base camp trek, where you can feel more warmer and comfortable during your stay during this trek.

Day 07 Trek from Dingboche to Lobuche , 4 - 5 hours , (alt. 4900m)

After a warm breakfast at the lodge you will start your day. Today you will trek from Dingboche (alt.4410m) to Lobuche (alt.4900m) in 4 to 5 hours. First part of the walk gradually ascends to Thukla for about 2 hours. Along the way you will enjoy walking through beautiful areas abound with the grassy landscapes, and you may encounter the himalayan yaks. Moreover, panoramic views of Mt. Ama Dablam, (6812m, Mt. Twache 6420m , Mt. Cholaste 6440m , and Lobuche peak 6119m is tawaring the trail. Just right before reaching Thukla you will cross the river source of this river is Khumbu glacier . At Thukala you can drink hot tea or coffee before starting the steep ascent to Thukla pass (alt.6820m) for about 2 more hours where you can see numbers of memorial of Sherpa climbers and foreigners who died during the Everest expedition and the best view of Mt. Ama Dablam and the number of beautiful peaks around. At the last part of the day you will graudal ascend to Lobuche one hour to the tea house for hot tea and lunch, Mt. Pumari ( alt.7119m is greets you along the way to Lobuche . Afternoon before the end of the day we suggest doing the small hike up to the hill a couple of hundred meters up for acclimatization which helps you to sleep as you reach higher then you sleep tonight.

Day 08 Trek from Lobuche to Gorak Shep (alt.5120m) , and Trek to Everest Base Camp (alt.5364m) and return to the Gorek Shep , 7-8 hours minimum.

Today is the most highlighted day of this trek. Today you are fulfilling your dream to reach by walking to world highest mount everest base camp (5346m). After early breakfast at Lobuche your day starts with a 2 -3 hours trek to Gorek shep gradual ascend through the rocky trail. Once you reach Gorak shep we stop for hot lunch and keep our unnecessary stuff at the lodge as we return to the same place after we visit Everest base camp for overnight stay. Continuing the trek from Gorak Shep it takes 2 to 3 hours to stretch -out to Everest base camp. The trail is more rocky with few hundred gradually ascends to basecamp , you must have to walk with careful and as it is high section of this trek you may also feels hard to breathing and can’t move as you wish , so you have to drink plenty warm water and eat proper food and hot soups and some energy bars. Once you reach the Base Camp of Mt. Everest you will celebrate with your team as your dream comes true and enjoy with some photographs and videos and final 2 more hours and slowly return to Gorek shep for overnight stay.

You will feel tired as you walk very long days in the high altitude ,and unstable rocky trail close to the big mountain, but you will be mesmerized with landscapes , Khumbu glacier , and panoramic views of Mt. Day 09 Early Morning Hike from Gorek Shep to Kalapatther viewpoint (alt.5550m) , 3 hours and Return to Pheriche (alt.4371m) , 7 - 8 hours.

Before sunrise very early in the morning you will hike to Kalapather viewpoint (alt.5550m) about 3 hours ascending from Gorak shep to top of the kala patthar viewpoint for amazing sunrise view over the mount Everest range includes 360 degree a panoramic views of the himalayas. As you wish to see the sunrise view, from kala patthar we start to hike very early in the morning at about 3:30 am to 4 am. You need head touching and in the morning it is very cold and chilly so you have to wear warm gear such as sweaters , gloves , beanies , walking sticks , big down/ wind proof jackets , warm paints ,and a few pairs of warm socks , sunglasses etc.

Day 10 Trek from Pheriche to Namche Bazzar , 6 -7 hours, (alt. 3410m) through the Tengboche monastery.

As you are going down after a higher section of this trek you will feel more comfortable and your buddy used to do it. Day 11 Trek Back from Namche to Lukla through the Phakding , 6-7 hours , (alt.2870m)

Today is your last day of walking on this trek, you will trek back from Namche bazaar to Lukla about 6 to 7 hours through the Phakding (alt. 2610m) where you can stop for lunch before ending this trip at Lukla. You will descend mostly through the beautiful tea house, village and suspension bridges over the Dudh Kosi river , you will remember most of the things as you will return to the same trail where you trek recently on the way up.

At Phakding you will have lunch break after a 3 hours trek back from Namche. 2 – 3 hours more gradual ascends to Lukla after lunch where your trek ends. Tonight you will have farewell dinner with a porter who is going to stay at Lukla to look for another job and you will fly back to Kathmandu tomorrow morning.

Day 12 Fly Back to Kathmandu (30 minutes) and transfer to your Hotel. (alt. 1300m

After memorizing a short Everest base camp trek early in the morning you will fly back to Kathmandu from Lukla (30 minutes and transfer to your hotel where your trek ends.

Note: in the high pick season such as October , November and March and April all the flights will fly from Ramechhap instead of Kathmandu and from Ramechhap you have to drive to Kathmandu 3 to 4 hours to reach Kathmandu.

A short Everest base camp trek is not an easy path, itself a high and longer trekking trail in Everest region as you have to walk through the rocky trail , stone slopes ,you might also encounter icy sections of the trek. Unpredictable weather, sometimes you can also receive snow and wind. As long as you reach a higher section of the trek you will feel cold and receive thin air which will give you challenging conditions such as headache and difficulty breathing

Autumn starts in Nepal after the monsoon ends from mid September to the end of the november. Autumn is right after monsoon so mostly the hilly region of the country will be fully covered with greenery and clear skies , sunny days most of the time. In the autumn the weather is stable , and offers the best view of mountains with gentle temperature. As the monsoon is passed the trail will start dry and more accessible and great visibility to the mountains and snow caps . in the autumn season roughly temperature will be during the day time 20 to 22 degree and at night falls 13 to 15 degree in the lower part of the trek, and upper part of the trek as you will be close to mountains and snow the temperature will fall 15 to 18 during the day and at night 10 to 12 in let september and october. In november the temperature will fall slightly down such as during the day 15 to 20 degree in beginning of the trek and upper section of the trek 14 to 16 during the day and at night 10 to 12 degree.

The Spring season (March to May) is the best time of year to do this trek , as the weather says stable and clear , crystal and blue skies offering to trekkers clear mountain view and accessible trail ,and dry landscapes. Spring starts after winter passes in Nepal . spring season from March to May the weather will be warmer and days will be longer compared with winter and autumn season in nepal.
